the medicine jewelry process

i begin by driving into the mountains
i stop at ethically and environmentally conscious gemstone mines
i feel that day’s weather on my skin and breathe it in
grab a bucket, climb up feet of mining rubble and begin digging
i bring my bucket back down the mining rubble to sift through
in hopes of finding some special gemstones
after many hours i head home to clean up the treasures that presented themselves to me and are waiting for their new homes

+

i sit at my workbench
i call in an intention or affirmation
a story to weave into the creative process
to become part of the jewelry’s vibration
from there i select a gemstone that calls in for the journey
grab my sketch book and continue writing the story

+

sculpt, file, saw, drill, tea, incense, prayer, source up-cycled metal
intention, intention, intention

+

each day that i sit at my workbench, i begin with speaking the intention in meditation
a prayer to the universe/source
and only create when i am feeling truly in tune with love, peace and creative energy

+

my intention with caitlin . cimino medicine jewelry is to create a story within each piece
a story to not only connect souls on an emotional level but also an energetic vibration
for support in healing and reminding - bringing us back to self
love.

+
so much jewelry made today is created without awareness of ethical, environmental or energetic impact
metal-mining and gemstone mining is mostly done in countries that do not have laws protecting the environment or humans
materials to make jewelry is commonly brought to us through child-labor, deforestation, water, air and land pollution, the destroying of communities, mistreatment and underpaying of employees, etc

+
like many things in the world today - jewelry has become a production line business
yes, it employs humans - but the jewelry tends to have no soul
a barren space
with a shiny surface

+
my intention is to bring a heartbeat
into a ring, a necklace, a bracelet, etc
and breath into our healing
